One of the easiest ways to update a space without going all-out is replacing your lighting. So here’s some options for your bathroom, hallway or wherever. 💁🏻‍♀️

You can easily spend over $300 on sconces, but if that’s not where you want to spend your 💰 then these are some really great options for less.

If I didn’t have a tiny human that is going through a stage of grabbing everything/anything in sight with hands that have been in his mouth all day … I’d totally get these.

Window shopping at @lauraparkdesign in Charlotte on weekends (or any day) makes me a happy gal.

Every house/light fixture/ceiling is different. But here are some guidelines to help ya out if you’re hanging a light fixture any time soon.

Dining chandelier: 32”-36” above tabletop

Kitchen pendants: 30”-34” above countertop

Entry fixture: a clearance of at least 84”

*All of these are measured to the bottom of the light fixtures

We love a cute storage solution!!!

When we bought this house, we knew we’d need some extra storage space in the kitchen for things like small appliances and holiday dishes.

I envisioned benches along the window wall to provide that storage, make use of that entire wall, make the room feel comfy, and bring in color through fabrics.

Our friend who has an upholstery company made these benches for us to fit perfectly in the breakfast nook. 😍 I have no idea what I would do without this storage!!!

An easy-peasy way to incorporate your furry family

An easy-peasy way to incorporate your furry family members into your home decor: use their pawprint as artwork. 🐾

While I was planning the gallery wall for our living room, I wanted to use a mixture of photos, art and meaningful things. I ended up using mostly photos in mixed metal frames, but had the idea of hanging a cute little frame towards the middle with Duncan’s pawprint in it.

He’s usually not in our photos from family vacations (because we can’t bring him everywhere, obvi) so this was a special way to include him.

All you need is:
🐾 Thick paper
🐾 Ink pad - I used a clean touch ink pad (no mess)
🐾 Scissors/paper cutter
🐾 Photo frame

Okayyy I know it’s actually not that simple, but it’s what I could fit in a reel. 🙃

Here’s the basics/cliff notes:
👉🏼Start with large items. Books/vases are perf
👉🏼Add in photos/art and sculpture pieces (big and small)
👉🏼Use texture (baskets) and shine (metal finishes - think candle sticks, photo frames, etc)
👉🏼Mix in old and new items so it doesn’t look too clean and sterile
👉🏼Now arrange all your layers in a way that’s visually balanced

Maybe a reel on visual balance should be next?? It’d prob help this make sense. 🤔
