🤍The blue “blanket” is one of my drapery panels that I took off the rod for the photo and then made Jon put back up afterwards (I needed some color!) 🙆🏻‍♀️
🤍I had to find a clean portion of my white bed spread for this photo ... Dunc can be a messy puppy 🤨
🤍There’s a towel right outside of the frame so the flower stems didn’t get our bed all wet 🙃
🤍I put in jeans 2 minutes before I took this and changed out of them 2 minutes after I took it 👖

I wanted to come up with a cute caption, but found more entertainment in sharing the messy behind the scenes instead 😅

Does home decor ever exhaust you? 🙆🏻‍♀️ There are so many gorgeous spaces displayed all over Instagram and these days that sometimes it can be discouraging and overwhelming to think about updating your own home.

One tip for you: stop trying to keep up with the latest trends!! 🙅🏻‍♀️

Your home should make you comfortable, make you smile, make you feel at ease and excite you. 🤗

What makes someone else comfortable isn’t the same thing that makes you comfortable. What makes someone else smile isn’t the same as what makes you smile. Noticing a trend? Different styles exist because design isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience! 🤭

Instead of trying to keep up with a trend, decide what elements of a room would make it the perfect room for you and build off of the function with aesthetic details that you love. Don’t pay any mind if it’s “in” or not. What matters is that you love it 😍

1️⃣ Balanced asymmetry. Hang a simple mirror and layer canvas art in front of it, covering about 1/3 of the mirror. Balance it out with decent sized greenery.

2️⃣ Simple and symmetrical. This look is definitely timeless. Hang large artwork in the center and flank it with greenery - trees and topiaries work well.

3️⃣ Advanced layering. Secure a base piece - either a mirror or a piece of art - and layer items in front and on the sides with the goal of creating visual balance.
