We all need more storage in our lives!! Well, I guess not if you’re a minimalist (go you – I don’t know how you do it), but I’m sure a few storage ideas couldn’t hurt. There are tons of options when it comes to storage solutions, which I’m sure you’ve seen many. Here are a few of my favorite staples and specific storage ideas by room in your home.

Storage Staples For Every Space
You can use these staples in almost any part of your home. Whether its a clear, plastic bin in the cabinet, a cloth bin on a shelf or a woven basket on the ground next to your fireplace. The products below are beyond versatile keep your “stuff” looking attractive. Click the photos to go to the websites.
Living Room
Think about things that could realistically stay out in the room. A bar cart is an example of a way to display your glassware and favorite drinks, while technically storing them.
Optimize your furniture! Storage ottomans, benches and stools are available in tons of styles and price points. Put toys, blankets and more in these bad boys to keep your space clean.
Another way to double up on function – use side tables, cocktail tables and consoles that have closed storage or a shelf. Use these pieces to store books and magazines, coasters, remote controls and more.
Instead of storing your belongings away, are there any that you can display? Use built-in, stand alone or wall mounted shelves to display your treasures!
Kitchen/Pantry
Dividers in cabinets can be used to neatly store cutting boards, baking sheets, pans and more. You can store your pans on their side with one of these dividers. This one comes in a couple different sizes.
If you’ve run out of spaces to store food, use glass containers to store it on open shelving or your countertop. Just like spices on a spice rack – food can be cute too!
Make one cabinet into two by using small shelving. You can store almost double the amount of items and fully use your cabinets.
Make the most of your cabinets by using bins inside them. Think about storing things like table linens and dish towels in a bin instead of just folded on a shelf. An added bonus: get bins with lids for items you don’t use as often and stack them.
Family Entrance/Mudroom
Looks like a cute accent piece, but is actually meant for shoe storage! Get your familys’ shoes off the ground and stored away in a functional piece like this one. This one is linked here.
Get exactly what you need by using a modular system. These collections have various furniture pieces that you can use together to create a custom built-in effect.
If your mudroom or hall closet is under utilized, give it a refresh by making it into an open storage unit. You can incorporate a bench, shelving, hooks and whatever else you need for it to function well for your familys’ needs. Image source here.
To keep your family entry tidy with the essentials, pack away all clothing and items needed for different seasons. When it’s Summer, keep all your Fall and Winter gear in bins either in the attic, garage or some other distant storage space. Bonus: use stackable bins.
Office
PSA: File cabinets are gorgeous these days. Bye-bye to the days of ugly metal units. They now come in several finishes and styles. Perfect way to store your files, papers and more in a stylish way. Linked here.
Whether you have a closet, open shelving or a different configuration, use closed bins, small drawer units, paper organizers and more to make the most of the real estate in your office.
Get creative by storing frequently used items in organized ways. Instead of having your greeting cards and envelopes piled in a drawer, purchase specific storage containers for them and keep them organized.
Make the absolute most of the space that you do have. These stackable organizers can be used in drawers to make the most of the height in those spaces that are usually unused.
Playroom
Get modular for your specific needs with cubby storage. You can use them horizontally or vertically. Put toys directly in them or use baskets. You get a built-in, custom effect without investing in actual built-ins! Photo source here.
Double up on function. These storage cubes double as cute ottomans for the kiddos!
We leave out baskets in our living rooms for storage, why not do the same in your kids’ playroom? Baskets this cute deserve to be displayed!
Get creative and use the walls! Purchase picture ledges (Ikea has several) and use them to store kids’ books. Functional and doubles as wall decor! Photo source here.
